Born in Bavaria, Eggenhofer eventually moved to New York
and studied lithography. He worked as an illustrator and was considered
one of the most prolific artist of the western scene. He was noted for
historical accuracy through careful research. Eggenhofer was considered
an authority on early western transportation.
He illustrated many covers for Western Magazines & books. Nick spent
a lot of time in Wyoming and lived at Cody a long time.
